Waterproofing Case Studies: Basement Waterproofing in Stony Point, NC

Challenge

Angela and her family were considering finishing the basement in their home. They knew that before refinishing, they needed to tackle the basement's water intrusion problem first. They said that they would find water along the walls of their basement every time it rained.

Dry Pro's System Design Specialist Rich went out to inspect the property. During his inspection, Rich saw efflorescence covering the basement walls.  Efflorescence are the minerals in the concrete mortar that dissolved in the rainwater and were left behind after the water evaporated. Efflorescence is easy to detect because it shows as a white chalky powder on the concrete mortar or soil.

Solution

After Rich went over his findings with Angela, she agreed to use Dry Pro for the repair.

The Dry Pro crew installed WaterGuard in two sections of the basement. WaterGuard is designed to capture water seepage through walls and leaks along the wall/floor joint. The crew also installed two SuperSump Pumps in the sections where the WaterGuard was installed. After, they installed CleanSpace Walls along the perimeter of the basement to seal out any water that may be coming in through the concrete mortar.

In the attached photo, you can see a large amount of efflorescence in this basement. To learn more about what efflorescence is and how to detect it, read the blog, "Do You Have Efflorescence in Your Crawlspace?"
